Obituary

Annette May Turner Bell, 88, of Belvidere, died Saturday, January 28, 2012, in MapleCrest Care Centre. Born on March 23, 1923 in Sigourney, Keokuk County, Iowa, daughter of Frank Alberson Turner and Elizabeth Marea Gaylord. She married Harry John Bell on April 9, 1948 in Rock Island, IL. Annette loved to sing and shared her talents through song in many church choirs and musical groups. She always had a song in her heart. She was a former member of Sweet Adelines. Annette was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she spent her life in loving service to everyone she met. She was an excellent early morning Seminary teacher who helped many of her students develop their testimony of the gospel. She held positions in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women. She was known for her tea rings and her efforts every year during the pie day fundraiser. She was instrumental in starting and maintaining the history of the Rockford wards and branches. Survivors include her loving husband Harry John Bell, her children John Gaylord (Debbie), Ida-Kathryn (Roger) Swank, and Frank Howard (Sandra), 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Gayla Bell and granddaughter Megan Bell. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the cna's, nurses and staff at MapleCrest Care Centre for their care and compassion.
