Anna L. Poe, 88, of Belvidere, died at 1:13 A.M. Sunday, September 21, 2008, in Swedish American Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born June 29, 1920, in Mohawk, TN, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth Golden Stroud. On July 4, 1939, Anna married Eugene Poe in Mohawk, TN, making their home in Boone County since 1940; Eugene died November 20, 2000. Anna was the head waitress at DeWanes Restaurant in Belvidere and the Fred Harvey Restaurant at the Belvidere Oasis for several years prior to working in food service at the Belvidere Chrysler Plant for 9 years, retiring in 1985. With her husband, she was a member of the Model "T" Club of Rockford. Anna was a lifelong member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church of Mohawk, TN. Survivors include two daughters: Shirley Voiles of Rockford and Vernetta (Don) Ranken of Cherry Valley, IL; four grandsons Mark Voiles of Louisville, KY, Kevin Voiles of Rockford, Richard (Beth) Ranken of Rockford, and Rodney (Valerie) Ranken of Milwaukee, WI; three great-grandchildren Alexander Voiles of Louisville, KY, and Allison and Anna Ranken of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law Lucille Stroud of Caledonia; and many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, brothers Harold, Glen, D. L., and Jack Stroud, and 3 sisters-in-law.
