IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann Ginnette
Turner
May 14, 1936 – November 14, 2023
Ann recently and triumphantly joined her loving husband, Gary on November 14th. We are pretty sure they are dancing, kissing, laughing and mom is updating dad on all the goings on with her friends and family over the past 3 years to this date. Ann Ginnette was born on May 14th, 1936, in Sharon, WI, and raised by Walter and Martha Count. She graduated Belvidere High School in 1954. Ann and Gary had a beautiful marriage that lasted for over 67 years.
If you knew Ann, you knew her for her laughter, famous pies, her strawberry shortcake, and a dedicated community leader. She was a city girl that Dad won over to join him by his side on the family farm. Ann rose and exceeded the challenge of becoming a farmer's wife. Ann became the CFO of the farm, stretching every penny to the limit. She was the rock for our family and weathered many of the challenges of farm life. Ann was a mom that was there for her kids and very involved, Ann would not let us stray too far off her path. Once her children left the nest, Ann enjoyed her 10-year career with Eagle Foods in their Deli department. Gary was very proud of her always.
Ann served on numerous committees throughout Boone County including, the Farm Bureau, Home Bureau member as a Chery-O, Merry Milk Maids, Boone County Historical Society and served on the board, Big Dipper award for the ice cream social, Keen Age Center, Woman's Club, Y-nots, supporting the local YMCA, a long standing 4-H leader recently inducted into the 4-H hall of fame. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church and served practically on every committee throughout her lifetime membership that she called her 2nd kitchen and home. She was awarded the Dr. Of Civic Betterment by the Chamber of Commerce for all her volunteer work.
Most importantly she loved her family and made so many wonderful memories on the farm with her family through her cooking and entertaining. She could whip up a meal for 10 without even having to go to the store. She always amazed her children on her cooking ability whether she was cooking for 10 or 100. Ann will be missed by many for her fantastic laugh, sparkle in her eye, and her pies. Take a moment this Thanksgiving and use the good stuff- Ann always loved to set a beautiful table, but more importantly invite your friends and family around that table. This is what Ann did best.
Ann leaves behind her children, Paul (Springfield), Amy (Belvidere) and Sarah and Ross (Raleigh). Her grandchildren Jessica and Jim (Plain City, OH), Ashley and Cliff (Gilbert, AZ), Austin and Taylor (Raleigh) and Sophie and Thomas (Charlotte). Great Grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Hudson, Kensley, and Sutton. Brother-in-law Giles and Bunny Turner (Augusta). Ann and her family would like to thank OSF Hospice and her amazing nurse Lisa. Ann loved Lisa's visits with her because of her quick wit and humor. Lisa treated mom with dignity and compassion and the Turner family is very grateful for that.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 1st, 3-6pm, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere. The memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2nd, at The First United Methodist church from 11-12pm. Pastor Jim Bell will be Officiating. 610 E. Bonus, Belvidere. Private Burial will be held at the beautiful Lawrenceville Cemetery very close to the family farm on Russellville Rd. in Garden Prairie.
Ann's wishes if you choose, to give a memorial in lieu of flowers in her memory, is to continue to support the Boone County 4-H Foundation or to her church that she loved, The First United Methodist Church in Belvidere, IL.
