Anita L. Newell, 77, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully October 4, 2021, at PA Peterson in Rockford, IL. She was born July 14, 1944, in Belvidere, daughter toErwin C. Wascherand Imogene M. Wascher. She graduated high school and went to Arizona State College. Anita married Gregory Alan Newell at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV.She became a chef and owned her own restaurant, "The Renegade" in Arizona where she and her husband lived for 29 years before coming back to Illinois. She was a member of The Mission Covenant Church and Evangelical Covenant, both in Belvidere. Her interestswere being a hugeanimal lover andsports fan. Shejoined The Rockford Peaches.

Anita is loved and missed by her daughter, Melissa Little; sister, Wilma Carlson; grandchildren, Michael Little and Kristen Little; niece, Jodell Carlson and niece and husband, Darla (Carlson) Seaward and Lem Seaward. She is preceded in death by her parents,Erwin and Imogene Wascher; husband, Gregory Newell; and brother-in-law, Gordon Carlson.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. Darren Loeppky will officiate.
