Obituary

Andreas Jungert, 88, of Belvidere IL, formerly of Mount Prospect IL, passed away on March 9, 2023. Born on January 5, 1935 in Ilaca, Yugoslavia. The son of Hans and Appolonia (Siedel) Jungert. When Andreas was 8 years old, his family was evacuated from Yugoslavia due to the war. He and his family traveled by wagon train and foot to Austria and finally settled in Germany. During his time in Germany he graduated from trade school, and learned the trade of carpentry and cabinet maker, and met the love of his life, Christa.  In 1956 he and his family moved to the United States, and in 1957 Christa was able to join him and they began their life together. They shared 4 children and 55 years of marriage.

He worked for 35 years at Gustafson and Lindberg, and enjoyed woodworking throughout his life. He had a strong work ethic and always wanted to help his family on any house project they may have. He would help re-decorate or build new furniture, and even made all of his kitchen cabinets. He always wanted to lend a helping hand, teach, and was famous for his lectures. At the age of 60 Andreas built a family home in Lake Redstone, Wisconsin. He built the home from the foundation, and hosted many family holidays and weekend gatherings there. He enjoyed Friday fish frys with the Lake Redstone Neighbors.

Andreas enjoyed watching hockey and soccer, German music, traveling, and spending quality time with his family. He especially enjoyed trips to Anna Maria Island in Florida. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to his family. He was known as "Dad" to many.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Andrea (Jeffrey Brabec) Jungert, Angie (Andy Smith) Newman-Smith, Kirsten (James Horcher) Jungert, grandson; Michael (Lindsey Kirsch) Bennett, great grandchildren; Daylen and Evan, step-sister, Eva Steinfelds, honorary daughter; Tina Gramly as well as numerous extended family members.

He is welcomed into heaven by his wife; Christa (Faisst) Jungert, infant son, Michael W. Jungert,  his parents; Appolonia and Hans Jungert, stepmother; Theresia Jungert, and his sister Maria Drexel. Cremation Rites have been accorded.  Celebration of Life will take place at a later time. Donations may be made to A Heart for Animals in memory of Andreas. www.aheartforanimals.org
