Alvin C. "Jim" Bauman, 89, of Caledonia died Wednesday March 15, 2006 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1916 in Greenwood, IL. to Frank and Amelia (Anderson) Bauman. On June 29, 1940 he married Valorie Keeler in Dubuque, IA. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Admiral Corp. in Harvard until his retirement. Jim was a hard worker who enjoyed working with his hands, he could make something out of nothing. He started up a couple of businesses, including KFC's and A&W franchises. He was also a carpenter and built a home for his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the birds in his yard, feeding the squirrels, gardening and running his vegetable stand in front of his home. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Valorie of Caledonia, son: Duane Bauman of Machesney Park, daughters: Darlene (Robert) Jones of Caledonia, Karen Snider of Belvidere, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brothers: Ronald Bauman, Harry Bauman both of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Royal Bauman of TN., sisters: Marjorie Alt Helen Weitzel both of Harvard. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 grandchild, and 1 great-grandchild.
