Alvin M. Bowers, 81, of Belvidere, passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 at Swedish American Hospital in Belvidere, IL. He was born April 4, 1936 in Greeneville, TN, son of James and Eathel Bowers. Alvin married Lila Edwards on December 7,1998 in Gatlinburg, TN. He was dedicated in his service to the Foundry Industry, working for National Gray Iron (Moline Corp.) and Unimin. Alvin proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was passionate about the cubs, gardening and loved his family.

Alvin is loved and missed by his wife, Lila; children, Angela (Brad) Suter, James  "Marty" (Diana) Bowers, Michael (Laura) Bowers; grandchildren, Lindsay, Chad, Colton, Matthew, James, Danielle(Chris), Joshua, Cody, Tia, Tonya, Selena, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kaylee, Lily, Canden and Rylee; Lila's children, Dan(Linda) Edwards, Jim(Sam) Edwards, Chris(Dawn) Edwards, Rick Edwards; grandchildren, Heather, Danielle, Steven, Melissa, Jamie, Mike, Lindsay, Ron, Steven, Krista, Ricky; great-grandchildren, Jace, Jayla, Mason, Wesley, Emma, Kendall; sister-in-law Sandy Myers. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Herman "Dale" Bowers, Leon" Hotshot" Bowers, and his previous wife, Arlene Bowers and their daughter, Angel Starr Bowers.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Visitation will be held 4:00 till 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to the family.
