Allyn E. "Smokey" Burroughs, 79, of Belvidere died Friday, January 16, 2009 in Hospice Care of Madison, Wisconsin following a short illness. Born March 18, 1929 in Belvidere, the son of Charles O. and Daisy W. (Lewis) Burroughs. He was employed as a Bartender-Manager for various clubs including the V.F.W. and American Legion. Al was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the John Hugo Kaiser V.F.W. Club and American Legion Club, Former member the Loyal Order of the Moose, Belvidere lodge #295,member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie Lodge #3414. He is a graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1949. Al is survived by two daughters, Carolyn D. (Kurt) Stroup, Stoughton, WI.; Kay S. White, Cincinnati, OH; a son, John (Candace) Burroughs, St. Petersburg, FL; two step children, Jeanine Gregory and Phillip (Carol) Bergeron, both of Bradenton, FL. Twelve grandchildren, Machelle (Andy) Pyle, Jennifer and Lisa White, Valerie and Eric Rangel; Ryan and Ian Hyde; Julieanne Bien: Johnna Brennan; Leslie Bergeron, Diana Bergeron and Aimee Bergeron; two great grandchildren, Miranda Kuhn and Tayler Phillips. Al was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clyde and granddaughter, Jaclyn Bien.
