Alice E. Coxhead, 94, of Rockford, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006 in Swedish-American Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born May 12, 1912 in Belvidere, Illinois, the daughter August and Valhamina (Carlson) Carlson. Alice was aresident of Rockford from 1936 to 1991 before moving to Madison, Wisconsin from 1991 to 2002 when she returned to Rockford. Alice and her husband, Sheldon also wintered in Mesa, Arizona. She married Sheldon Coxhead in Belvidere on September 5, 1936. She was employed as an Organist for Zion Lutheran Church, Belvidere and Alpine Lutheran Church, Rockford. Alice received her music training in Rockford. She is survived by her daughter, Judith K. (Anthony) Wooten, Fitchburg, Wis.; and son, Alan B. (Joan) Coxhead, Ellicott City, Maryland; six grandchildren Andrew B. (Jessica Clarke) Coxhead; Jill (Mike) Simon; David C. Coxhead; Anthony Jr. (Lindsey); William D. (Heather); and Kristina L. Wooten; four great grandchildren, Aaron, Paul, Naomi and Ella Coxhead, numerous nieces and nephews; preceded in death by parents, husband in 1992, a sister, Mildred Julin; and two brothers, Milton and Leslie Carlson.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
