Agnes Ruth O'Connell, 92, of Belvidere, died at 3:00 A.M., Sunday, September 19, 2010 in Northwoods Care Center after a long illness. Born March 7, 1918 in Capron, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Hermanson) Camp. Attended Boone McHenry Community High School in Capron, serving as class secretary and Salutatorian of the class of 1935. Worked at Flinn Motors in Capron and the National Sewing Machine Company in Belvidere and as a cook at Washington School. It was at the National that she met the love of her life. She married Thomas J. O'Connell, Jr., December 6, 1941 in Capron. They learned of the December 7 Pearl Harbor attack in Erie, PA on the way to their Niagara Falls Honeymoon. Life member and one of the founders of the Boone County Historical Society. She was a 63 year member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a member and officer of the Episcopal Church Womens group and a member of St. Elizabeth's Guild. She loved Holy Trinity and helped build a church float for America's Bicentennial. Survivors include a son, Thomas (Connie) of Belvidere and a daughter, Jill of Slinger, WI; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and sisters in-law, Elaine King and Lorraine Camp. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a sister, Lenore Duffy, and brothers, Lt. Owen Francis Camp and Robert Camp.
