Agnes Charlotte Meine
Born on October 1st 1919 in Springfield, MN to Maude Jenkins and Albert Hessen. Agnes Charlotte Jenkins married Edward John Meine in Springfield, MN December 20, 1934. They were married for 54 years. Agnes passed away peacefully on February 24, 2018 surrounded by family at age 98 years old. Agnes was raised by her Grandmother Mary Jenkins, was a Beloved Daughter of Maude Jenkins and Albert Hessen, Devoted Sister to Dorothy(Horace) Silvius, Loving mother of Charlotte(Merlin) Wilaby, and Carol(John) Mulholland, Attentive Grandmother of Edward(Linda) Mulholland, Thomas(Betty) Mulholland, Chris(Brian) Schmuggerow, Arlene(Tony)Royer, August(Rebecca) Wilaby, Tami(Paul) Temple . Adoring Great-Grandmother of Heather Mulholland, Pamela (Jeff) Schmuggerrow, Benjamin Royer, Amanda Mulholland, Matthew Royer, Jessica (Mark) Schmuggerow, Ashley (Jesse) Mulholland, Colton (Kelsey) Friemuth, Bo and Addison Dylak, Proud Great-Great Grandmother to Jarrett, Dakotah, & Maddison Winters, and Brantley Biddick and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by Edward J Meine (Husband), Arlene Royer (Granddaughter), Horace Silvius (brother in law), Maude Beckman (mother), Albert Hessen (father), and Grandmother (Mary Jenkins). Born to difficult circumstances, Ed & Agnes migrated to Rockford, IL in pursuit of work prior to WWII in Rockford Factories. Both had links to the land and actively pursued their passion, farming on shares before finally settling on their own dairy farm in Boone County. In addition to her love of working on the farm, Agnes also worked off the farm at Arnold Engineering in Marengo for 48 years where she was active in forming its' first Union and helping to ensure the future of those that worked there. Agnes was involved in her community as well, as a member of AMPI, Farm Bureau, and Boone County Home Makers, Leroy Community Grange, and was the sole remaining member of the Russelville Road Woman's Club. In her retirement years, she dedicated her time focusing on the success of the Boone County Keen Age Center and supported it tirelessly. While at the Keen Age Center she continued her lifelong love of card playing.
The Meine/Mulholland family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the countless doctors, nurses and hospice workers for their unwavering amount of love and support in caring for Agnes.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday March 5, 2018 at Blaine United Methodist Church, 7200 Blaine Rd, Poplar Grove, IL 61065 with Rev. Tom Hay officiating. A visitation will be held 10 till time of service. Burial in Highland Gardens of Memories. In lieu of flowers memorials to the church.
